I love celebrating birthdays and feel incredibly blessed each year another one comes around. I would like this one to be a little different. Our family has had its fair share of challenges: both my husband and I have recently battled cancer. However, my heart has always been in helping children. Any challenges we have faced do not compare with the horrors that children in war zones and developing countries face every day of their precious lives. Children everywhere deserve a life that is safe, healthy and happy. Save The Children is a charity that I have supported for many years. If you have thought of surprising me with a gift for my birthday, I would appreciate you giving to Save The Children instead.
Save The Children have been at the forefront of saving children's lives when disaster strikes and have created lasting change for children and their families through long-term development programs for over 90 years. With programs in 31 countries including Australia, they strive to support the most vulnerable – the children. For example, $25 can help provide life-saving medicines and supplies to treat a child suffering from cholera in South Sudan but any little bit would help a child anywhere.
